MUSEE ARCHÉOLOGIQUE JEAN SALUSTE
The Musée de Portiragnes, which opened in 2003, houses archaeological collections discovered on the town's land during excavations that took place over many decades. It’s a journey through time, from the prehistoric era to the Middle Ages. There are tools that belonged to prehistoric nomadic hunters, and huts from the first farmers. A large square is dedicated to the "Monoxylon II” expedition, an experimental sailing expedition along a prehistoric coastline, as well as to the Greek, Roman and Visigoth periods.
