The underwater trail

A new route starting from La Plagette allows to discover the animal and plant life as well as the landscape under the sea, easily accessible between 0 and 5 metres.

CAPDAGDE-PAGEINFO-E54-0002

Over a length of 400 m back and forth in shallow water, from the Plagette beach to the Rascasse rock and the black volcanic islands, you'll discover underwater life : volcanic seafloors, small posidonia beds, volcanic rocks, plateaus and slopes, faults, scree, a mini canyon and sandy environments, with a whole range of typical Mediterranean fauna and  flora?  let us all protect this marine world within flipper range.
The starting point: La Plagette in Cap d'Agde
5 buoys with ecological moorings, representing 5 types of landscapes, are installed along the course, with underwater panels describing the different environments and species.

For an independent visit at your own pace, just follow the buoys equipped with underwater information panels.

On a guided visit led by a qualified guide from the ADENA, you will learn everything about the volcanism and the marine environment of Cap d'Agde, and you will be guided all along the trail until your return to the beach. These visits are organised in small groups of 8 people, equipped with flippers, masks, tuba and isothermal combination.
ADENA will lend you an underwater camera and gives you the choice of taking home your photoprints or receiving your pictures by e-mail.
A waterproof booklet is also included in the tour package, and don't forget the public awareness signs installed at the reception desk and in the eco-pavilion on the beach.
