Between the wars, Le Grau d'Agde became a holiday resort. The typical, charming Mediterranean village is known for its culture, architecture and maritime traditions. The sanctuary of Notre Dame of Grau is only a short distance from the river. It commemorates a legendary miracle that took place in the Middle Ages and is now a place of pilgrimage on the Saint Jacques de Compostelle route.

In season a "ferry service" provides a direct crossing to the other bank of the Hérault : La Tamarissière.
