Whether you come as a couple, a family or with friends, the Mediterranean resort of the Cap d’Agde extends a warm welcome! Lively, trendy, surprising, with plenty of green spaces and of course the sea, you are sure to succumb to the charm of this Capital resort!
In the Cap d’Agde, you choose your holiday atmosphere
The famous seaside resort resembles a mosaic of quarters which contribute to the Mediterranean way of life. Ten very different styles cover the 10 quarters, with a mixture of typical Languedoc colours, pine groves and oleander. Whether you are looking for peace and quiet or a lively atmosphere, it's up to you to choose your ideal quarter! It is a vast area, largely open to the sea on the flanks of the Mont Saint-Loup, just waiting to be discovered by foot or by bike, through the labyrinth of alleyways and cycling paths.
A young, dynamic seaside resort
The Cap d’Agde was born during the 1960s, as the State decided to develop tourist infrastructures in Languedoc-Roussillon, along the Mediterranean coast. Accordingly, the immense beaches of golden sand along the ‘Agathois’ coast saw the harmonious growth of buildings respecting the architectural codes and typical colours of Languedoc villages. It was the construction of the marina that really launched the creation of the Cap d’Agde that we know today. Aqualand, the Museum of Ephèbe, the Aquarium, the International Golf course, the International Tennis Centre, the Ile des Loisirs (Leisure Island) and the naturist village - a wide range of facilities found their place!
Labelled “20th century heritage”
This designation distinguishes buildings and major urban centres built between 1900 and 1975. It was awarded to the Cap d’Agde for its architectural qualities, in particular the “Port Saint-Martin”, the highlight of the foundation of the resort, created by the “Mission Racine” from 1970.
